Jessika McCuin

My name is Jessika McCuin and I’m the owner and lead planner of Jessika McCuin Weddings, based in central Arkansas.

When I’m not knee deep in planning weddings, you can find me hanging with my family of three — my daughter, Ellis (whom I lovingly refer to as my little), and my husband, Tyler. Most of our free time is spent enjoying time together at home. I lucked out when marrying Tyler. He is the most interactive and present Dad, and it melts me. He tackles the title of Mr. Mom effortlessly when work (or sometimes play — which he encourages!) keeps me away from home. He’s the best listener when I need it, and he knows that my cure-all is a clean kitchen, glass of red wine, and an Anthropologie candle burning. He’s a general contractor, so he can (and frequently does) build all sorts of nonsense for me. He also likes to remind me not to fall victim to the unrealistic renovation costs of Fixer Upper when Chip & Joanna convince me I need to remodel my entire home. A girl can dream, though.

My nights in frequently include an episode (or five) of the Real Housewives of pretty much every city and The Bachelor. Guilty pleasure much? Our couple-shows are Blacklist, Blindspot (yes, Patterson is my doppelgänger), How to Get Away with Murder, and The Voice… even though we usually lose interest after the auditions and knockouts.

I live for non-wedding Saturdays during grilling season. Tyler is a bit of a grill-master, and there’s nothing like a full day spent with your family, enjoying a craft beer and the most perfect medium-cooked steak.

On the chance you catch me out for a girl’s night, you can bet it’s centered around food— and me accidentally talking about my little the whole time. I occasionally love a good shopping trip, but I do the most damage online. Hello, cyber deals! My husband likes to remind me that my degree in marketing does me no good when I fall for every ad campaign I see. What can I say, I’m a sucker for a catchy sales slogan!

When it comes to music, there’s a chance I know all the words to any mainstream rap song that came on during my high school and college years. You might catch me getting down at your reception in the corner when no one is looking if an old favorite comes on… Kidding! Maybe. While rap was my go-to back in my younger days (grandma status now), worship music is more my jam now. You can almost always catch me bumping some Bethel. Can you bump Bethel?

On wedding days, and all the days leading up to it, I’m your go-to for getting things done. I’m coordinating with vendors, managing your budget, negotiating contract terms, designing and setting up your wedding to reflect your vision, and I’m making sure every moving part crosses the finish line at the exact same time to ensure your day goes off without a hitch— all so you don’t have to. The last thing you want to be worried about on your wedding is making sure the wrinkles have been ironed out— literally and figuratively!

I could write endlessly about my being a wedding planner, so if you want to hear more on my philosophy about wedding planning and how I got started, check out the video our friends at Erin Wilson Photography & Cinematography filmed for us below!
